Robert Tercek is a pioneer of digital media. During his 25 year career, Mr Tercek has worked on both sides of the entertainment industry, as a leader inside established media giants that were facing disruption and also as a co-founder of several disruptive startup ventures. He served in senior executive leadership at MTV, Sony Pictures Entertainment and at The Oprah Winfrey Network, where he was the President of Digital Media. Because of his reputation for spurring disruptive change, Mr Tercek has been labelled by the trade press everything from “one of Hollywood’s Digital Dozen” to “the TV anarchist”. Before founding Direct Education, Mr Tercek managed a specialized consulting firm in Beverly Hills. As the wave of digital transformation has swept through many other industries, Mr Tercek’s practice expanded to leading firms in the fields of technology, telecoms, retail, transportation and consulting. His clients included Microsoft, Google, IBM, Docker, AT&T, Huawei, HPE, Kohl’s, Aetna, PwC, CapGemini, and Ford Motor Company.

As strategic advisor and board member, he has assisted organizations ranging from Bertelsmann and Omnicom to the IAB and FSGA, to which he was recently elected to their board of directors. He enjoys volunteering at charitable and education-focused organizations, including Camp Kesem and the Manhattan Beach Unified School District, and remains an active member of the State Bar of California.

His work in Motion Picture Marketing for such films as ‘Transformers’, ‘Cloverfield’ and ‘The Soloist’ brings valuable insight into the User Experience, and his combined understanding of UX, Design and Marketing made him a commodity at some of Hollywood’s top Film Studios including Paramount Pictures and Jeff Skoll’s Participant Media.
He is the editor of the book ‘The Ad War: A Look Into the Multi-Billion Dollar Advertising Industry and How They Waged War Against Their Own Consumers’.
